SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - It s been three years since the Carr Fire broke out. Years later, parts of Whiskeytown National Recreation Area are still closed to the community.
“We have been strategically reopening areas of our backcountry, where environmental conditions within the Carr Fire burn scar allows us to do,” said Scott Einberger with the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
Authorities seek identification help of female suspect
The National Park Service is asking for help identifying a female who is suspected of theft on June 3.

WHISKEYTOWN, Calif. - The National Park Service (NPS) said it needs help identifying the woman who is a suspect in a theft at East Beach in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
The NPS said the investigation found the woman was seen in surveillance cameras in a Redding business making fraudulent transactions.
The theft at East Beach happened on June 3 and anyone with information is asked to contact the NPS at (530) 242-3467.
Whiskey Creek Group Picnic Area swim advisory lifted
The Whiskey National Recreational Area has lifted the advisory for the Whiskey Creek Group Picnic Area swim beach.

WHISKEYTOWN, Calif. - The public health advisory has been lifted for the Whiskey Creek Group Picnic Area swim beach.
Water quality has improved and it was sufficient enough progress to lift the advisory placed on Wednesday.
The Whiskey National Recreational Area sends notices to the public when E. coli or other bacterial levels become potentially hazardous to human health. The park staff and the Central Valley Water Quality Control Board regularly check water for the busy summer season.
