Pitbulls & Pierogies to help Beaver County Humane Society
MONACA To help raise money for the Beaver County Humane Society, a Pitbulls & Pierogies event will take place March 13 at Whiskey Rhythm in Monaca.
Any $15 donation gets you a dozen pierogi. The pick-up only event, from 3 to 6 p.m., also enters people in a drawing for $200 worth of gift cards.
Proceeds will help the Center Township animal shelter that s had its income impacted by a water line break that caused flooding last month in the local humane society chapter s Beaver Falls thrift store.
Event organizer Biba Lubenski, a local advocate for the humane society, also is using Pitbulls & Pierogies as a chance to educate the public about pitbulls, a breed of dog often ostracized by communities.
Three shot in Monaca
MONACA At least three people were shot early Saturday outside a borough bar.
Monaca police reported in a social media post that the shooting occurred just after midnight in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue near Whiskey Rhythm Bar.
Police didn t identify those who were shot or name any suspects in the incident. The report didn t say how seriously injured the victims were or if any of them had been in the bar.
Midnight Saturday was when Gov. Tom Wolf s restrictions went into effect, including banning indoor service at bars and restaurants until Jan. 4 as part of efforts to stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the state.
