MANSFIELD - The West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes collected from Mansfield, according to the state Department of Public Health.
In 2020, 7,156 mosquito samples were tested for West Nile virus and 99 samples were positive. Mansfield had no West Nile virus positive mosquito samples identified in 2020, according Health Agent Amy Donovan-Palmer.
At this point, Mansfield continues to be low risk for West Nile Virus, according to Donovan-Palmer.
There will be no aerial spraying at this time. Residents may request ground spraying for mosquitoes at their property by contacting Bristol County Mosquito Control at 508-823-5253. More information can be found at www.mansfieldma.com/222/Mosquito-Control.
