A 25-year-old Democrat aims to take David Valadaoâs Congressional seat in 2022, and announced his candidacy Thursday, joining four other candidates vying for the District 21 seat.
Angel Lara s primary motivation is to flip the district by replacing Republican Valadao, according to a press release. The seat represents Kings County, along with portions of Fresno, Kern and Tulare counties.Â
âThis campaign is about taking back Californiaâs 21st Congressional district from Trumpâs Republican party,â Lara said. âThe Central Valley is my home and our community deserves a representative in Washington who works for them.â
Lara is the son of Mexican immigrants and grew up in Bakersfield, according to the release. He holds a bachelor s degree in public health from University of California, Berkeley.

FOX News media analyst Howard Kurtz reports on media criticism of South Carolina Republican senator s remarks
National Democrats have been noticeably silent on left-wingers use of a racial slur targeting Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., following his rebuttal to President Biden s address to Congress on Wednesday.
Progressives labeling the senator Uncle Tim a play on the racial slur Uncle Tom pushed the racial attack into Twitter s trending topics section for hours.
The use of the slur came after Scott recounted his speech in how he had faced racism from left-wingers.
While Republicans in Congress have been outspoken in condemning the slur, Democrats have been noticeably silent.

While Republicans in Congress did everything in their power to obstruct the American Rescue Plan, a majority of Americans – including 73 percent of Independents – support this crucial relief package. Across party lines, Americans know the legislation is putting vaccines in arms, money in pockets, children back in school safely, and people back in jobs.
Congressional Republicans voted against the needs of the American people. And their politically motivated opposition to the historically popular Rescue Plan puts them at odds with the 70 percent of Americans who back the policy that helped create 916,000 jobs in March.
Given the GOP’s categorical disregard for workers and families across America – their health, their financial security and, obviously, their opinion – Republicans are desperately trying to distract from the Rescue Plan s transformative benefits for the American people.
