Former Alabama star wide receiver DeVonta Smith was chosen 10th overall in the 2021 NFL draft on Thursday night by the Philadelphia Eagles.
He was the third wide out taken after LSU s Ja Marr Chase, who went No. 5 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals and fellow teammate Jaylen Waddle, who was picked by the Miami Dolphins at No. 6.
Smith, who opted to return to Tuscaloosa for his senior season in 2020, caught 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns en route to becoming the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy since Desmond Howard in 1991.

The Eagles pulled off a rare intradivisional trade with Dallas on Thursday night in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, trading up and swapping the 10th and 12th picks (with an extra third-rounder going to the Cowboys) to steal Alabama wideout and Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith right out from under the Giants.
