A philanthropist/vintner who plans to release her first wine later this year has purchased the former Swanson Vineyards site in Rutherford for $10 million, according to county records.
The former Swanson Vineyards parcel at 1271 Manley Lane is Suzanne Deal Booth’s third known acquisition in Rutherford. The seller of the 1.4-acre property is a Kansas-based entity owned by the family of the late Leslie Rudd, founding member of Vintage Wine Estates. The deed was filed May 5 in Napa.
The former Swanson Vineyards winery is expected to become the home base for Deal Booth’s Bella Oaks, which plans to release in September its first wine – a $275 Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2018 vintage.
