As part of the project, Macy’s consolidated its operations into the first four shopping floors and lower levels of the main building, built in 1930, plus an interconnected building constructed by developer Andrew Wheeler in the 1870s.
The 162-year-old college will call three contiguous floors at the building home for at least 30 years, according to the developer. Previously it was on a small campus on Butler Street and then grew to a series of connected buildings on Remsen Street.
“This is a historic moment to completely re-envision our campus and meet the needs of our community, and we are thrilled to continue offering a first-rate, affordable education in a modern, flexible and welcoming learning space,” said Miguel Martinez-Saenz, president of the college.
