Security has been ramped up in belgium following a deadly anti terror raid outside the capital city of brussels. Two suspected terrorists were killed. Authorities interrupted what they thought was a suspected terrorist attack. A firefight erupted about 75 miles outside brussels belgium. The antiterror raid turned deadly when men with ties to syria opened fire on police. Two suspects were killed. A third was injured and arrested. During the investigation we found that this group was about to commit terrorist attacks in belgium. Authorities say the planned attacks were aimed at Police Buildings and personnel. Belgium police had watched the group for weeks. Local media reports investigators found automatic weapons, Police Uniforms and bomb making equipment at the suspects location. They broug in all sorts of equipment to try to help them answer that question and potentia send down navy divers to verify they have an unmanned underwater vessel metal detecting equipment, 3d mapping, sea floor mapping. But as yet, havent been able to decisive say that that is the main body of wreckage. And, of course once again, theyre battling the weather. The high seas the choppy waves, high winds and heavy rains have all come back. And thats really hampering efforts. There are still some ships involved in the search overnigh but the aircraft are grounded the divers didnt get out today. Werent able to go down and check anything out. And that may be the case again, tomorrow. They also now have equipment out searchin for those pings, listenin for the pings of the black boxes. And so far, have not heard anything. Because thats where the best possibility for oxygen was at. So thats what we did. The rest of the area was filled with a lot of smoke. It was just very smoky in there. We couldnt see anything. Thats important because metro now gets control of its tracks once again, can start making repairs and get Yellow Line Service restored. As far as what happened learning more about that too. The ntsb makes a number of key points about yesterdays frightening and confusing episode. This was an electrical issue involving the third rail and power supply cables to the third rail. Some sort of electrical arcing incident which is essentially a big spark and pop happened. It happened in a tunnel about 800 feet south of the Lenphant Plaza amount of smoke to tour into the tunnel and the train. There was not a fire on the train. The train did not redeath rail. Michael flanagan, lead ntsb investigator describing the issue. The third rail runs along the side of the track and at various points there are cables that connect that third rail to the power source of the pump station.
