end up when it becomes law. i ll tell you, back home when i was walking around with candidates this weekend who were out there today, they were making life more affordable for them and infrastructure, what will we do to fix the holes and the potholes and get the gateway tunnel from new jersey to new jersey fixed. right now it s 113 years old, the tunnel. they just want to make their lives better. get clean drinking water. those are the real issues we re hearing at home. so nine months since unified democratic control. you re getting the first test from the voters. it s a tough political environment democrats are in right now. what s your explanation for why it s such a tough environment? first in new jersey, it s a good political environment because we ll win big tonight. i ve not been as plugged in to what s going on in virginia and some other parts of the country, but every time whether it s

just like donald trump, and that s why donald trump, his final campaign will be for glenn youngkin here in virginia. we don t want swamp, we don t want youngkin. we don t want the hatred and division. friday night you were talking unpaid family leave and lowering the cost of prescription drugs. you bet. these are two issues not in the bigger social spending agenda that the president is trying to get congress to support. i m just curious, what has this debate done to your campaign? has it been a bit debilitating? people are not when i travel around virginia, they re not asking about what s going on in washington. obviously everybody would like to see these bills passed. i d love it as governor to get the $7 billion for roads here for the commonwealth of virginia. what i get asked about is covid. i m running against an anti-vaxer. i believe teachers, doctors,
anything for democrats. but joe biden and democrats do have to get out and now sell the actual elements of the bill. it s been so process heavy and that s because process is how you get things done. if you re an american dipping in and out of this coverage trying to figure out what s going on in washington, i think it would be really hard for you to quickly say yes, i would get x, y and z. it s very confusing. and this is what voters actually say, according to an ap poll from october 21 through 25th, about what should be the highest priority in the economic plan health care, number one, 64%. education after that at 59%. climate change, childcare and paid leave is at 27%. of course, paid leave, as we know at the moment, is out of the bill. they are lobbying to get manchin to support it. do you guys think the democrats made the right choice about what this punt, what to punt on, to kill family leave from the bill? i mean, it s a balanceling act. bernie sanders got a promise from ch
