which is what they had been hoping to do. they think they ll have the votes by early next week. by no means ask that mean it s guaranteed passage in the senate. most people think it s doa in the senate. you ve seen a lot of senators be incredibly comment aquiet and nt about what s going on in the house. it s a much harder lift in the senate. they don t have a 60-vote majority and so it s going to be a real challenge to get it through. so the likelihood of them getting something done on obamacare through both chambers of congress is very small. eliza, it occurs to me that one thing that this health care battle may have done that really the obama administration never could was educate americans about what aca has actually done for them. it s more popular now than ever. will this make it harder to repeal and replace? i think definitely. we saw the numbers of how people felt about obamacare go up for the first time. and so people are frustrated and they re nervous.

we re not going to discuss what s going on in the house intelligence. probably a good thing to stay away from. this is outside of the comfort zone for the senate intelligence committee. that s not usually a public venue. to handle this kind of she-profile public investigation is requiring them to go beyond what they usually do and so far they are handling it better than the house. what you re seeing is the dysfunction and parliamentary polarization of the house. this is the way the house operates on most issues over the last several years and what we re seeing here is the public getting kind of a window into what happens on many of the substantive issues and the same we did on health care where there was no effort from the beginning to have bipartisan buy-in. here s some where you node it and they can t cross that bridge. not that long ago there was similar bipartisan cooperation in the house intelligence committee as well. yes. phil mudd, you re an expert in this area, you use
dana: juan, that was a little different than what you seen the last couple weeks. two chairman battling each other and leaking. now you have these two senators, warner from virginia amber from north carolina, who at least in public look like they are able to communicate and work together and calmed everything down. juan: when this senate committee, separate from the house, separate investigation, when they started out, mark warner, who was standing next to senator burr threatened to leave because he was upset. that has all gone away. if there is anything standing in the way of a special prosecutor now, it s this senate committee. people can have some level of trust. i don t think there s any trust left and what s going on in the house. that s a circus at this point. dana: it s amazing, eric, how many people are working on this. we know the fbi s investigating and you have the senate who said they had 20 seven full-time staffers working on a deferred stuff going on in the house.
when senator rand paul a vociferous critic said they were pulling the wool over their eyes and said the president was being played. we thought for a while there was daylight between the president and speaker. it seemed to have tightened up the last week but do you think what senator paul said had truth to it? they have a lot of smart people in the white house. have you mick mulvaney head of the budget a member of congress until a few weeks ago. tom price who was a member of congress until he was named to be the head of health and human services. they know what s going on in the house. i don t think the president didn t have good advice to how tough the fight was going to be. the interesting question will be if this fails will the president turn on ryan. at this point they re saying no, absolutely not.
