FERNDALE, Wash. – Two bodies were found in a submerged car in the Nooksack River Tuesday morning.
Ferndale police officers found the car in the river next to Ferndale Road after a pedestrian reported skid marks apparently leading toward the river.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Department, Whatcom Fire District 7, border patrol and the State Patrol are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
No other information is being released at this time.

2 bodies recovered from vehicle in Nooksack River
Ferndale police say an early investigation indicates this was a traffic incident. It appears the driver was speeding and took the turn too sharply, going off the embankment and into the water. The investigation is ongoing.
FERNDALE, Wash. - Two men were found dead inside a vehicle pulled from the Nooksack River on Tuesday morning, Ferndale police said.
Police say the vehicle was found and retrieved from the river adjacent to Ferndale Road.
An early investigation indicates that the likely cause was speeding, according to police. Police believe the driver was speeding on Ferndale Road, took a turn too sharply and went over an embankment, into the water.
