Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Vikram Doraiswami has said India respects Bangladesh for the ‘certain values’ on that the country was created by maximum sacrifices of the mass people.
“The respect that we (Indians) have for Bangladesh comes from this (values) …it comes from what Bangladesh is to Bangladesh,” he said.
He was speaking at an intergenerational dialogue titled ‘Liberation War & Its Values – Across the Ages’ at the High Commission organised by the Indian high commission in the capital and in association with the Youth Opportunities on Tuesday evening.
The Indian envoy said that the ideals and values of the Liberation War of 1971 are the foundation upon which the bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh are flourishing.

High Commission of India launches essay competition in Bangladesh AIR Pics The High Commission of India in Bangladesh launched on Tuesday a writing competition on the topic âWhat Liberation Means to Me?â for Bangladeshi youth between 18-35 years of age on the eve of the Victory Day celebrations marking liberation of Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971. The writing competition has been organised in association with âYouth Opportunitiesâ which works among the young people as a youth development platform. The submission deadline for the competition is 10th January.
The winner of the essay competition will be awarded a laptop as a prize. Top 10 will get a smartphone, crest, book and certificate.The essay competition was launched on Tuesday by the High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami during a discussion programme ââLiberation War & Its Values - Across the Agesâ in Dhaka.

Dhaka, Dec 16 (IANS) Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami has said India is looking forward to the joint commemoration of 50 years of Liberation War and 50 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh.
He said India recognised Bangladesh as a sovereign nation on December 6, 1971, while the war was underway, adding the ideals and values of Liberation War of 1971 are the foundation upon which the bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh are flourishing.
Doraiswami made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing a dialogue titled “Liberation War & Its Values – Across the Ages”, organised by the Indian High Commission of Dhaka in association with Youth Opportunities at the high commission.
