Mammoth $15k fine after petrol-stealing dad zooms through red light

Premium Content Subscriber only AN IPSWICH father narrowly dodged jail but has copped a whopping $14,000 fine after speeding through red lights to avoid police. Barry Ernest Adams, 34, appeared for sentencing in Ipswich District Court, after pleading guilty to 11 charges, including two of evading police and five of stealing. Ipswich District Court heard the father-of-two drove off with more than $600 worth of petrol across multiple instances, filling up but leaving petrol stations without paying. Adams stole the petrol on five dates between December 26, 2019 and March 3, 2020. The court heard police spotted Barry driving on May 21, 2020 and tried to pull him over.

School facility takes out top QLD design award

Premium Content Subscriber only AN Ipswich secondary school building has this week been recognised as one of the best designed academic facilities in the state. ‘Kurrajong’, which is the Centre of Senior Learning at The Springfield Anglican College, received the evening’s highest honour at the Australian Institute of Architects’ Regional Architecture Awards. It was awarded The William Hogden ‘Building of the Year’ under the Darling Downs and West Moreton region category. The facility, designed by Fulton Trotter Architects, also received a commendation for its state-of-the-art design. Director Paul Sekava said the facility was purpose-designed to help assist senior students with the transition from high school to university.

Lazy moment leads to more trouble after police search home

“He failed to attend as required. “He said he did not have transport to attend Ipswich Police Station.” Holland pleaded guilty to three charges including drug possession, contravention of police direction, and failing to safely dispose of a needle and syringe. Ipswich Magistrates Court heard the 19-year-old architecture student stuck to his guns, telling police the licence was his even after he had been taken to the police station. Police prosecutor Sergeant Paul Caldwell said police had been patrolling on Stewart Road in Goodna on April 2 when they pulled over a white Honda Accord for a licence check about 2.40am. The court heard Majok Chol Majok was behind the wheel but, when asked to show his licence, pulled out one belonging to someone else.
