he is not planning on resigning i am told very bluntly. he was just elected to a six-year term. there have been a lot of senators with illnesses out for much longer and this is no different i am told. he plans to recover and we ll see how that progresses. i want to bring in cnn s senior medical correspondent on this. you just heard manu s new reporting about what fetterman s symptoms that were led to all of this. what does that tell you? these are very common symptoms of depression. loss of appetite which of course would lead to weight loss. part of it is because when people become clinically depressed they have trouble taking pleasure in sort of every day things, having a nice conversation with a friend or beautiful scenery. sort of eating would be one of those things. another reason might be, and we don t know if the senator has been on antidepressants but sometimes antidepressants themselves can lead to a loss of appetite. this is coming in the broader context of his overall h
