Black Midi have shared two new Christmas covers to raise to raise funds for The Windmill in Brixton.
The band have reworked Bobby Helms’ 1957 classic ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ and ‘What Christmas Means To Me’, which has been released by a number of artists including Stevie Wonder.
All proceeds from the songs will go to The Windmill’s crowdfunder to help keep the venue open. It has suffered financially during the coronavirus pandemic.
i heard the song and i loved it and i played it over and over again. i never really listened to the words. then i listened to it later. they re pretty gritty words. i m surprised, but it s kind of celtic irish type. yeah. kind of sad, which i think a lot of christmas music is kind of sad. but this one is no exception. by the way, this is the most played christmas song in england ever. really? yeah. okay. for me, i had a hard time picking. i picked stevie wonder what christmas means to me. let s listen to that. all these things and more that s what christmas means to me my love . oh, come on. i was hoping he would be on stage playing with his glasses on. i love that. i ve never heard that song.
