Members of the Polish Falcons Third Street Nest 610 are disappointed that there will be no Dyngus Day celebration on Monday. It’s a fun event held every Monday after Easter when, according to legend, Polish maidens would chase after their intended beaus and throw water on them and swat them with pussy willows. Seriously, and it’s a huge deal in cities such as Buffalo and Cleveland. But Falcons officials in Erie had to cancel for the second year.
I guess the one bright side is that many of the organizers pledge to restart their events next year. We can only hope that the pandemic will be sufficiently subdued by then.
