This week s settlement follows a $150,000 settlement in December against TPB International, LLC, for unlawfully selling electronic cigarettes in Vermont through its website.
Vermont has banned the sale of tobacco products through the internet to anyone other than a licensed wholesaler or retailer since 2008. In 2019, the law was expanded to include electronic cigarettes and substances containing nicotine intended as a tobacco substitute.
Under the terms of the settlement announced Wednesday, the companies are required to notify Vermont consumers that they do not ship to individuals, in addition to paying the penalties.
