WESTPORT Animal control officials in Westport received a call Friday alerting them to the presence of an injured opossum in a local backyard.
According to Peter Reid, who works with both Weston and Westport Animal Control, a goldendoodle had captured the opossum and flipped it into the air.
When Reid arrived at the scene, he said the confused and injured opossum was trapped by fencing in the backyard.
The animal had sustained some mild contusions in the incident, he said. He took the injured opossum to Wildlife in Crisis, which was founded by his wife, Dara Reid.
