Twenty-one new cases of Covid-19 have been reported across the Bristol region, according to the latest daily figures.
Public Health England said today, May 19, that there had been 16 further infections in Bristol, four in South Gloucestershire, and one in North Somerset. There have been no new cases in Bath and North East Somerset.

A Bristol Eye Hospital nurse who was unable to follow instructions has been struck off after hitting a colleague and shouting at a patient.
Cordelia C Ihejieto, who started working for the University Hospital Bristol Trust in 2003, made a woman “hysterical” when she failed to insert a cannula into her husband’s hand, resulting in excessive bleeding.

The number of people being treated for coronavirus in Bristol’s hospitals is slowly falling - but there is still higher than 200.
Numbers of covid patients in both Southmead Hospital, the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital are dropping, and are now at around half the peak of the post-Christmas wave of the pandemic.
