A British man is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for charity via trekking the Icelandic wilderness with his grandchildren next summer.
Jim Beachill of Conisborough, South Yorkshire, told reporters that he can’t wait to spend time with his two grandkids in the North Atlantic nation on their latest charity adventure. The trio, consisting of Jim, 68, Jack, 18, and Elisha, 13, plan to cross the island from one end to the other.
The three travellers hope the journey – which Beachill says will allow him to tick off another item from his ‘bucket list’ – will raise GBP 10,000 (EUR 12,295) for the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity. They have raised substantial funds for the group via previous adventures; in 2010, their 100-mile walk on the Great Wall of China brought in a whopping GBP 20,000 (EUR 24,590).
