Primary school children across the country returned to school for just one day before schools were closed in a national lockdown.
The sudden U-turn on Monday evening came after Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Sunday that parents should send their children back to school amid safety concerns.
The Prime Minister told BBC1’s The Andrew Marr Show: “Yes, absolutely they should in areas where schools are open.
SANTA and his elves landed on the rood of Westlea Primary School. Father Christmas rang a bell and his merry band waved to parents and children to spread some festive cheer during the morning drop-off on the last day of school. Chair of governors Bob Barrett and several staff joined the festivities. The school s roof is currently being replaced following a successful Condition and Improvement Fund award of £250,000, and the new roof is almost finished. The government donated the money in the summer, work began on the project in October and is due to be completed in January.
