Lucy Rowley is the 2021 winner of the Olu Orugun Award, a prize given annually to a physician associate student from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to honour the late Dr Orugun. The much-loved doctor, which the award is named after, was an associate medical director and consultant physician at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC), and passed away in 2017. The award is given each year to a student who has shown dedication, compassion, teamwork and resilience in their work – qualities that Dr Orugun was known for during his time as a consultant physician at West Cumberland Hospital.
