Seattle Fire Department crews responded to the leak around 10 a.m. near Republican Street and Westlake Avenue. They asked that people avoid the area while officials investigate. The department later tweeted that it is a confirmed gas leak, and they are working with Puget Sound Energy to secure it. Seattle fire officials later said the leak had been contained and people could return to the area.

SFD tweeted around 10 a.m. about the potential leak near Republican Street and Westlake Avenue. They asked that people avoid the area while officials investigate.
