UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory, in effect from 11 a.m. Friday through 8 pm. Sunday for the greater Reno area, Carson City, Carson Valley in Douglas County, Mineral and Southern Lyon counties as well as the Western Nevada Basin and range including Pyramid Lake, Northern Washoe County.
Strong northeast winds will impact the Sierra on Monday and Tuesday, including the Tahoe Basin and northern Mono County in addition to portions of northeast California, mainly south of Susanville, according to the National Weather Service.
Thick heavy smoke from the California fires is causing unhealthy air quality around the Carson City region, prompting the continuation of a dense smoke advisory through at least 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Thunderstorms are expected again Tuesday for Carson City and western Nevada, according to the National Weather Service in Reno, which is tracking several thunderstorms mainly south of Interstate 80.
Gusty winds associated with a cold front expected to arrive Monday has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning for the Carson City region and much of western Nevada.
