Nearing his two-year anniversary as president, Dennis Bailey-Fougnier resigned from the top job at Blue Mountain Community College on Thursday, Feb. 11.
The BMCC Board of Education formally accepted his resignation at a special meeting, where they also named John Fields, the collegeâs vice president of instruction, as the schoolâs acting president.
In a Friday, Feb. 12, press release, the college stated that Bailey-Fougnier was diagnosed with cancer late last year, and although he initially decided to work through his treatment, he was now turning his attention toward his health.
âBMCC is a fantastic institution with a strong future ahead. I regret that I will not be able to be a part of that future but I have decided I need to focus on my health,â Bailey-Fougnier said in a statement. âI am grateful to everyone who contributes to the success of BMCC.â

MEEKER | Fifth-generation Meeker natives, the Conrado family has always been involved in giving back to the community in various ways. The most known contribution has always been providing construction services for projects in and around the town. Meeker Sand and Gravel, run by siblings Dan and Katie Conrado, has always come through, whether it’s pouring concrete or delivering loads of sand and dirt to various locations. They always seem to make an appearance in the annual Rio Blanco County 4-H Livestock Sale supporting kids and their projects. This year however, the family decided to go above and beyond with a $37,357 donation to HopeWest Meeker.
