delays they aren t on account of any of your actions. to those in attendance as i explained to the defendants this can take some time so we ask for your patience, your continued patience, your continued civility in this case. we understand there may be some high emotions in this case but we ask that you continue to be patient with us. everyone involved wants this case to be concluded as quickly as possible. but it s important for you all to understand that the state as well as each one of these defendants have an absolute right to a fair trial. tyre nichols family was in the courtroom as well. his mother said that she wanted the officers to see her face. i feel very numb and i m waiting for this nightmare basically that i m going through right now, i m waiting for somebody to wake me up, right. i m really waiting for somebody to wake me up but i also know that s not going to happen, okay, i know my son is gone. i know i ll never see him again. i want each and every one o
has now issued an arrest warrant for vladimir putin. prosecutors accuse putin and another official of illegally deporting ukrainian children to russia. we expect to hear from president biden perhaps reacting to this at any moment but first cnn s ivan watson is in kharkiv, ukraine and nic robertson is in london. ivan, walk us through exactly what the icc is alleging here. reporter: they re issuing arrest warrants for none less than the russian president himself, vladimir putin, accusing him of alleged war crimes for what they say is the illegal abduction of ukrainian children, forcibly deporting them to russian territory. they ve also issued an arrest warrant for a russian government official, and she is kind of the children s right official in the russian government. she has already issued a statement. the kremlin have already issued statements basically calling this these arrest warrants null and void, saying that moscow is not a signatory to the rome statute, that they
let s now get down to business. we start with energy as more eu caps on russian oil have come into effect. the price of premium products, primarily diesel, is being capped at $100 a barrel, while low end products, including fuel oil, will be capped at $45. other oil product imports are banned completely from today. the price cap is designed to limit moscow s ability to fund its war in ukraine. enforcement relies on prohibiting insurance and shipping companies from dealing with russian cargo, unless it was bought at or below the set price. i have not got viyella davis to talk about this instead i do have another guest. joining me now is spencer welch, oil analyst with s&p global. we have been talking about eu caps and bounce, what has changed today? changed today? there is essentially changed today? there is essentially three - changed today? there is. essentially three different mechanisms that have been put in place in the last two months. on the fifth of december, the eu
you re live in the cnn newsroom. i m jim acosta in washington. we begin this hour in ukraine. new worries, one year into the war that russia could soon receive support that could be a game changer. the source of the concern is china and the possibility of beijing providing lethal aid to russia. now, the white house has called this a red line and the cia doesn t believe a final decision has been made by beijing, but it s worrisome, nonetheless. and, you know, beijing will have to make its own decisions about how it proceeds, whether it provides military assistance, but if it goes down that road, it will come at real cost to china and i think china s leaders are weighing that, as they make their decisions. but first, let s go to cnn s alex marquardt, who is in ukraine with the latest on the fighting there. jim, some of the heaviest fighting, some of the worst casualty rates on both sides is now taking place around the eastern city of bakhmut. russian forces from the gro
and that s crucial to moving toward our enduring goal of palestinians and israelis enjoying equal measures of freedom, security, opportunity, justice and dignity. president biden remains fully committed to that goal. we continue to believe the best way to achieve it is through preserving and then realising the vision of two states. as i said to the prime minister, anything that moves us away from that vision is in ourjudgment detrimental to israel s long term security and its long term identity as a jewish and democratic state. you heard secretary blinken there referring to a two state solution to the israeli palestinian conflict. what that envisions is an independent palestinian state in the west bank alongside israel, withjerusalem as their shared capital. next let s hear what the israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu had to say. to, perhaps achieve dramatic breakthroughs that i think could be both historic and enormously significant in our common efforts to bring
