The assessment of local law enforcement and subsequent recommendations for improvements were required by Gov. Andrew Cuomo as part of his administration’s response to the growing demands for accountability and change that followed the killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed a knee to his neck. North Salem’s plan must be submitted to the state by Thursday, April 1.
