Westbury Court care home residents take part in tea-tasting to find the nation s favourite brew

Westbury Court Care Home resident Patricia Algeo, aged 90, enjoying a comforting brew RESIDENTS at Westbury Court Care Home joined 8,000 others across the UK in the biggest known tea-tasting event to mark National Tea Day. Wednesday s (April 21) event was staged by Four Seasons Heath Care Group across all 180 of its care homes, including Westbury Court, in a bid to find a new tea blend by residents’ popular vote. Having sipped their way through nearly 12 million cups of tea during the pandemic year, the Group’s residents are connoisseurs of a good brew. Westbury Court s chief tea taster and connoisseur, resident Patricia Algeo, 90, said: “A good cup of tea is all you need to lift your spirits. We drink tea all day long and we’ve lived long enough to know there’s nothing it can’t make better.”

Children s cards spread some Easter cheer

CHILDREN at the Bebe Tots Nursery in Westbury and Dilton Marsh Primary School used their imaginations and creativity to spread some smiles over Easter. Armed with paint, crayons and many other mediums, the budding artists made a delightful array of colourful Easter cards. The cards were then given to clients of Butterfly Care, a family-owned homecare provider based in Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset and Frome, and the Westbury Court Care Home in Station Road, Westbury. The cards were used to help create an inter-generational link within the local community and help to brighten homes this Easter. Anne Pelling, director of Butterfly Care, said: “We are thrilled that Bebe Tots Nursery and Dilton Marsh Primary School could get involved.

Care worker Leah Tompkins is blown away by offers to help her shirt napkins appeal

A YOUNG care worker has appealed for help after being inundated with 40,000 offers of old shirts and blouses to make dignity napkins for the elderly. Leah Tompkins was blown away after her appeal received more than 40,000 offers from across the UK and overseas. The 20-year-old posted a request on her Facebook page asking for any unwanted men’s shirts and women’s blouses so that she could cut them up and make them into napkins. Leah uses them on some of the 60 residents at Westbury Court Care Home in Station Road so that they don’t have to wear actual napkins during meal times.

Home looks for tall tales and great pictures

STAFF at a Westbury care home are inviting local youngsters to take part in a storytelling and drawing competition.
