Weirton officials on Feb. 8 presented a plaque to the family of Edward Frankovitch, in memory of the former city chief of police, who died Dec. 22. Frankovitch began his career in law enforcement with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, and was a founding member and former president of the West Virginia Chiefs of Police Association. He also spent 40 years in the safety department of Weirton Steel Corp. and was active in numerous local civic organizations. Contributed
