PARKERSBURG More than half of Pleasants County’s 80-and-older population has received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, a Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department spokeswoman said Thursday.
During a clinic Thursday at the Pleasants County Library, 165 members of that demographic received their second doses of the inoculation against the novel coronavirus, said Carrie Brainard, threat preparedness coordinator for the department.
While that was happening, another 500 people were scheduled to receive initial doses of the vaccine at West Virginia University at Parkersburg. Meanwhile, sheriff’s deputies, State Police troopers, firefighters and other first responders were receiving first or second shots at the Health Department office in downtown Parkersburg, Brainard said.
