The advisory will still cover San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara County area beaches through Thursday as breaking waves continue to range from 12 to 18 feet. By Thursday afternoon ahead of the advisory s potential expiration, the waves will taper off to eight to 12 feet, but dangerous rip currents will remain. For the south coast, the beach hazards statement has also been extended through 9 p.m. Wednesday as breaking waves range from three to six feet due to elevated surf.
