THE Prime Minister has acknowledged the passing and contribution the late Brother Resistance (Lutalo Masimba) has made to the cultural landscape of Trinidad and Tobago.
He spoke about his value to the nation at Saturday’s news conference held at the Diplomatic Centre.
Resistance, was one of the pioneers of Rapso music and president of the Trinbago Unified Calypso Organisation (TUCO) at the time of his death last Wednesday. He died at the Westshore Private Hospital where he was silently battling cancer. He was 67.
Tributes have been pouring in for this vocalist, poet and author since his death.
Prime Minister undergoes MRI to check lungs

The Prime Minister underwent an MRI at Scarborough General Hospital on Wednesday evening to monitor his lung functions, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) said in a statement.
Dr Rowley, 71, tested positive for covid19 on Monday after developing flu-like symptoms. The statement from the OPM said Rowley was taken by assigned doctors from his official residence in Blenheim to the hospital.
He has since returned to quarantine in Blenheim where he continues to be monitored and cared for by staff of the Tobago Regional Health Authority.

The Prime Minister is in Tobago campaigning with the People’s National Movement (PNM), ahead of the January 25 THA election.
Today, Dr Rowley will officially receive the APT James at the Port of Scarborough at 1pm.
The APT James is one of two fast ferries bought by the government to service the seabridge. The other, the Buccoo Reef, is expected to arrive within the next two months.
Rowley is also expected to deliver the feature address at the event, which will be attended by Chief Secretary Ancil Dennis and Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan.
