As part of its commitment to improve the mental health of the communities it serves, Sutter Health made an investment of $569,000 in the West Sacramento Mercy Coalition to house programs of the Mosaic Village, a safe, healing place for those impacted by substance-use disorders, homelessness, mental health illnesses and other vulnerabilities.
“MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities,” the city’s press release noted. “In honor of Dr. King’s message and mission, Fourth & Hope, Friends of the Mission and the City of Woodland will host a service day at the East Beamer Neighborhood Campus at 1901 East Beamer St. Projects will include planting, painting and general cleaning around the housing community and emergency shelter.”
Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, D-Yolo, secured $1.1 million in additional California State Budget funds for Yolo County to fund Meals on Wheels, West Sacramento’s Recovery Café and the Clarksburg Fire Protection District.
