The City of Port Huron is working to replace the street lights that line the Thomas Edison Parkway near the Blue Water Bridge. Under an agreement with DTE Energy, the city will pay approximately $217,000 to replace 51 metal posts and lights along the parkway, Thomas Edison Drive, and Prospect Place. City Engineer and Director of Public Works Eric Witter tells WPHM the current lamp posts are showing their age. "There's probably a half dozen that have either fell down on their own or had to be taken down due to their condition," said Witter. "We reached out to DTE and they were willing to accept them into their streetlight program which they will operate and maintain." Witter says the lights are over 40 years old and will replaced with new LED lights similar to those in the West Quay Street parking lot.
