LONG BRANCH - Anne Evans Estabrook, a real estate developer with deep ties to the Shore, will donate $3 million to Monmouth Medical Center for its new campus on a former Fort Monmouth site, hospital officials said.
Estabrook, owner and chairwoman of Elberon Development Group, said the donation is deeply personal. She grew up in the Elberon section of Long Branch. And both her father and husband were treated at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch for critical illnesses. The staff not only treats their patients; they treat the whole family, Estabrook said in a statement.
The gift is targeted for Monmouth Medical Center s proposed Vogel Medical Campus, a 100,000-square-foot project in Tinton Falls on the site of the former Myer Center, a Cold War-era research facility that was known as the Hexagon.

On Friday, the West Orange-based zoo announced that Theo was humanely euthanized last week due to known medical conditions and his age.

Theo came to us as a young pup in the summer of 2011 and has aided his species in the wild as a wonderful ambassador animal. The executive vice president of a West Orange organization is on a mission to support those who aided Jewish people during the Holocaust.
Warsaw, Poland – 1941 - Catholic teenager Anna Stupnicka rescued a young Jewish girl from the Nazi-controlled ghetto by dressing her in a Catholic school uniform and then disguising her as their cousin until the end of the war four years later. Three years later in Hungary, teenager Katalin Kuron and her family sheltered a Jewish woman and her two children in an earthen bunker in their garden for seven months.
