Fitter, stronger and healthier - The Retreat Riding Mill reopens

A LUXURY fitness and wellness space in the heart of Northumberland has reopened its doors as Covid-19 restrictions continue to ease. The Retreat, near Riding Mill, first opened in December 2019 with the aim of creating a new ritual in training and wellbeing. And while the pandemic has meant the business has had to adapt, founder Katherine Wilkins is looking to the future. We are delighted to have reopened The Retreat doors , she said. It was frustrating not being able to help people who wanted to focus on their health and fitness at the start of the new year. It is wonderful seeing happy, sweaty faces!

Goodwill of pupils supports the needy

A DEDICATED team of school pupils have done their bit to help struggling families in the run up to Christmas. The efforts of Kestrel Class - Year 6 at Allendale Primary School has ensured hundreds of pounds worth of food and other household items will reach people in need. They wrote to businesses and other community organisations asking them to contribute to their vital mission in support of West Northumberland Food Bank. The response has been remarkable, with a healthy stash of goods set to be delivered to the Hexham-based food bank, which serves people across the Tynedale district, set to be delivered this week.
