San Mateo police on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of car theft, after the man had been arrested days earlier on suspicion of stealing packages, police said.
Around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were patrolling the 100 block of West Hillsdale Boulevard, which police described as a recent crime hot spot. Officers checked the DMV record for a suspicious vehicle and discovered that it had been reported stolen out of San Mateo on Dec. 20.
Officers arrested the solo occupant of the vehicle on suspicion of car theft and found drug paraphernalia on the suspect during a search.
The suspect was identified as 25-year-old San Mateo resident David Benedicrivas, who was arrested on suspicion of car theft and possessing drug paraphernalia.
