A recently released 2023 Boating Accident Statistical Report shows 659 boating accidents happened in Florida last year, 76 fewer than in 2022. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission report, the accidents resulted in 59 deaths, down six from the previous year. However, Florida again led the nation in both statistics.
Authorities say on May 17, James Robert Lombardi, 43, called them saying he was lost in the woods between Branford Greenway Trail and the Suwannee River.
