Lexington County Coroner identifies victim from fatal shooting on Luke Street

ABC Columbia May 7, 2021 6:39 PM EDT COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the identity of a man who died Thursday after a shooting at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Luke Street. The coroner says 30-year-old Harkeem Quaman Akins, of Gaston, was pronounced dead at an area hospital after he suffered an gunshot wound to the upper body. The incident remains under investigation by the West Columbia Police Department.

(WIS) - Two Lexington County men have been sentenced to several years in prison after being convicted for their role in a violent rape and robbery that occurred in West Columbia. Christopher Cooper has been sentenced to life in prison. He has been convicted of 1st-degree burglary, kidnapping, armed robbery, 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Craig Cooper has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. He pled guilty 2nd-degree violent burglary, kidnapping, armed robbery, 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
