Jamaica’s use of online schooling is to be explored in robust discussions by 18 students from six tertiary institutions in the third renewal of the Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College (SSTC) Western Tertiary Debates.
The moot for the knockout competition, which was revealed at a virtual launch on Wednesday, February 24, is: ‘Online schooling has always been the gateway to an effective and productive education system, however, Jamaica continues to lag behind.’
The preliminary round is to get under way on Wednesday, March 3 with Montego Bay Community College proposing the moot, while the University of Technology (UTech) Jamaica Western Campus opposing.
Also proposing are Bethlehem Moravian College and the University of the West Indies (UWI) Western Jamaica Campus, which will have Caribbean Maritime University (CMU) Western Campus and Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College, respectively, opposing.
