congressional democrats tried to go after these so-called legacy admissions or take some schools that are acting on their own. a fairly elite liberal arts college, wesleyan, has decided to take action. they say their longstanding practice of favoring alumni had become a sign of unfairness to the outside world. and in a time of very divided politics, it s interesting to see where the public stands. the vast majority of americans do not think that of all the other benefits harvard families get, that they should also get a leg up in admissions for students who i guess otherwise might not get in without one more harvard elite insider boost. i m joined by the executive director of lawyers for civil rights which leads the group leading the push to abolish that policy at harvard.
The Connecticut institution said it was “important” to end legacy admissions, which have long been criticized as a perk for the white and wealthy.
