A COMMUNITY project to distribute grocery hampers to families in need will go ahead this month. Thanks to a £1,950 grant from Essex County Council, Maldon Town Council has funded the scheme to feed 30 families in Maldon this March. Spearheaded by town councillors Carlie Mayes and Jeanette Stilts, businesses from the area will fill up a fresh meat and vegetable hamper to keep residents well-fed. Maldon Meatline has agreed to supply meat and recipe cards, and Maldon Fruit Supplies will provide fruit and vegetables. The hampers will also include eggs, and bread baked by the Golden Platter in Maylandsea. The recipe cards will match the meat and veg supplied for each week the project runs.
