Wahkotowin gallery about raising up voices of city’s youth
A new walking art gallery installed at the South Hill Mall is celebrating the work of students.
The gallery launched last weekend with the work of three Carlton students, all part of the Carlton Collection Builders Program at the school.
Teacher Melanie Mirasty says there are three walking galleries, which will showcase new art from students across the city each month.
The first three collections were painted by Jaylee Kachor-Engen, Oceanna Fisher-James and Tynisha McKay.
Kachor-Engen’s work depicts medicine wheels from across North America that are slowly eroding.
There is something wonderful about getting fresh flowers. In fact, studies show having flowers in your home can increase happiness, reduce depression and give you more energy at work. Maybe that’s why the floral department at Safeway in Prince Albert has won the BOB Award for ‘Best Place to Get Flowers’ six years in a row!
“The staff are amazing at customer service and putting together a perfect arrangement for your special occasion. We are a leader because of our customer service and our broad range of products,” said Wes Erlendson, Safeway store owner.
For the most part, the floral department imports flowers from South America. Erlendson said there is a lot of quality control in place to ensure the flowers are fresh, ready to go and last long.
“When we got there, they found that Bert had a dangerously low blood oxygen level and we were sent straight to the Emergency Department. He was admitted to the COVID ward at Victoria Hospital, by 10:30 that night Bert was in ICU hooked up to a ventilator,” she said.
Soon after Bert Hannah was diagnosed with COVID and Pneumonia in both lungs. Roughly two weeks later, he was transferred to Royal University Hospital until the time of his death Wednesday night.
“Bert was an active man and did not want to spend the rest of his days in a bed hooked up to a machine. So we as a family made the decision to remove him from support and let him go on his terms,” Donna Hannah wrote.
