The National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration s (Sunat) Central Laboratory received the qualification of Regional from the World Customs Organization (WCO), thus becoming the first country to receive this recognition in South America because of its best practices, state-of-the-art technology, and analysis techniques for the fight against customs fraud.
With this distinction, Peru is the fourth country in the world following Russia, Japan, and Mexico which meets the quality standards for the physical and chemical analysis of goods entering or leaving the country, applying a correct classification, declaration, and assignment of tariff treatment.
By being classified as a Regional Laboratory, Sunat enters the group of administrations with the most prestigious laboratories in the customs world, with which it can share research and development projects of joint programs.
