The Central Neighborhood Health Foundation, a network of health centers, is sponsoring an event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lutheran Social Services of Southern California, 1611 Pine Ave.
The LSS usually has food pantries during the week at their site, and so the health foundation asked LSS if they could host a pop-up at their Long Beach site, said Wendy Rubio of LSS, who is helping organize the event. Wednesday’s vaccinations will function as a test-run on reaching individuals who use the food pantries, and is intended for that population, Rubio said.
This pop-up will help them prepare for a more organized event scheduled for April 15, she said, where the vaccines will be open to those either 16 or 18 or older, depending on the vaccine. Both Wednesday’s and April 15’s events will be held outdoors as a walk-through vaccine, she said. No parking will be available on site.
