peter doocy live in washington with more on that. good morning. that s right. last night, the house passed the dream act by a vote of 216-198. 38 democrats voted against it. eight republicans crossed the aisle and supported it. it s interesting, of the eight g.o.p. members in favor of the bill, only two are returning to the house of representatives next year. dream act, of course, lets illegal immigrants who have been in america for at least five years, got here before they turned 16 to conditionally stay in the country legally if they go to college for two years or serve in the military. republicans say this amounts to amnesty and unfair to tax paying american citizens. democrats say the dream act will prevent kids from being punished for their parents bringing them into the u.s. some of the folks on the other side were very mean, on the other side of the issue. what we kept saying this is different. this is not mother and dad. this is a child who knows no other country.
