Deadpool director Tim Miller has explained why the film doesn’t need to hinge on its R-rating to continue under the Disney banner.
“I do. I think Ryan Reynolds’ take on the character and the way he embraces the particular kind of insanity even if you said he’s not gonna use four-letter words would still be there. He still is that character. You can take the R-rated parts out of it if you wanted and it would still be Deadpool if Ryan was doing it,” Miller said during an interview with Inverse.
While Miller believes that the
Deadpool film series doesn’t need to continue being R-rated to be successful, some fans are sure to disagree after expressing a public concern that the character would be toned down following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
