There’s a national need for this work, also known as genomic sequencing. It involves looking at all the genetic data of a coronavirus sample to see how it compares to other samples. Only a tiny percentage of positive COVID-19 cases in the United States have been sequenced so far, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In the vast majority of states, including Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey, less than 1% of all positive COVID-19 cases have been sequenced.
