GALESBURG IN WWII: Greece invaded; British rush aid

While Italy invaded Greece during the 62nd week of World War II the United States rushed towards a presidential election and called the first names in a massive military draft.
The week of Oct. 27-Nov. 2, 1940, began with the news of invasion. Oct. 28 the Register-Mail, on a day now commemorated in Greece as Ohi Day, announced that Greece had been invaded by the troops of fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. Mussolini had issued an ultimatum to Greece to cede territory and the same day marched Italian military into Greece from neighboring Albania.

Two such conservatives here in New Jersey are Mike Carroll and Steve Lonegan.
Carroll, who until recently was an assemblyman from Morris County, recalls that he went into the voting booth in November of 2016 still squishy on the idea of voting for Trump.
