Food waste sharing scheme starts in Wemyss Bay

FOOD waste will soon be off the menu in Wemyss Bay as community-spirited locals introduce a village sharing scheme. Local teacher Beth MacLeod, pictured far left, has been working with Creative Inverclyde to combat poverty and deliver digital devices to youngsters who are home-learning. The big-hearted Inverkip Primary teacher also decided to look at other ways she could assist local families during the pandemic. She then teamed up with Belville Community Garden to start a local foodshare. The 37-year-old, along with volunteers and members of the Wemyss Bay Community Association, collect food from local shops such as the Co-op on Shore Road, the M&S garage and Tesco Greenock that otherwise would go to landfill.
